According to the Newsletter produced by the California Association of Realtors the sales of Single family homes and condos rose 20.9 percent in March compared to February, but were down 13.3 percent from March 2013. Based on the report created by PropertyRadar, same month home sales compared to last year dipped. Furthermore both distressed and non-distressed property sales posted gains for the month of March. The distressed property sales category increased 7.4 percent from February while the non-distressed category posted a 25.2  percent jump.

The California median home price also increased and is now at its highest levels since March 2008 rising 4.6 percent to settle at $366,000 from $350,000 in February according to the report in the CAR newsletter. In addition, the year-over-year median price basis increased 13.3 percent. It was noted that what drove up the prices month-over –month in March was a 25.2 percent increase in the sales volume of higher priced, non-distressed properties.
 

Here are the highlights of the report:

Cash sales rose 10.6 percent for the month but were down 11.4 percent year over year.

Flip sales gained 7 percent for the month but were down 26.9 percent year over year.

Foreclosure sales continued to decline, down 2.4 percent for the month and 40.1 percent year over year.
